UNIFORMGATE: What Makes “A Good Uniform” In Your Opinion?

The Florida A&M University Marching 100 dawned new uniforms at The Florida Classic in Orlando this past weekend and all hell broke loose.. relatively speaking. Some liked the new look, some did not, either way It resulted in a debate about what looks good (and what does not look good) on a band uniform. I was in a discussion with a colleague who mentioned “half the schools talking about FAMU have ugly uniforms themselves!”. I enjoyed a good laugh from his comments, but then found myself in agreement, for the most part. I have to admit there aren’t many band uniforms that I find to be a marvel to look at. I could only come up with a handful that I personally thought were good or decent. But of course, I’m only one person… To help understand the opinion of the masses, we are conducting a poll of the best band uniforms. We did not poll every band’s uniform because sadly most are carbon copies of others, so we selected 13 band uniforms that we determined to be “unique” in design. Help us sort the good from the bad designs by selecting the design you prefer the most!

After selecting the design you like the most, it would be very helpful if you left a comment explaining why you prefer that design over others. Your comments could be used by High School and College Directors, who frequent this site, to help when creating uniform designs that appeal to the masses. Thanks for your input!
